A TORNADO, A FIFTH WHEEL AND FOUR MILES

Today began with a four mile walk and the I settled into a normal quiet day.  The quiet lasted until about three this afternoon.

I had walked to the Camping World Store to replace a retractable leash that broke on my walk with Oliver and Olivia this morning.

Returning to the motorhome, dark clouds formed in the west and a gentle rain began to fall. The rain turned from gentle to a huge downpour just after I shut the door.

Turning on the television, we find the screen filled with tragic scenes of the tornado destruction that took place just miles northwest of our location.

Below, you see one of the tragic scenes that was broadcast from where one of the twisters hit.

A fifth wheel was picked up and it landed on the roof of the house.  This surely gives us an appreciation of the strength of a tornado.  Thankfully, no one in either the home or the fifth wheel were injured.

Our rain at our location was just the outer edge of the storm. We were very fortunate as we have been for the last two days.

Looking at Weather Bug, it appears that there will be more storms in the next few days.  Ask me if we are ready to leave Indiana!

Only one problem.  While parked at Camping World, a huge, really huge wrecker came to pick up a totaled motorhome.  After hooking the rig to the wrecker, the driver proceeds to back the motorhome into my Miata, my baby.

Now, we wait for repair.  When repair is completed, we are out of here.

The plus point?  We get to see family more.  THAT is a good thing.

Thanks to all who are making purchases through my blog. Every purchase is appreciated!

How much did you exercise today?

God bless y'all!

  1. Oh no! You need to get out of tornado country. At least you weren't in the path of this one so that was good news. The devastation i that area was terrible. Run!

  2. 3 1/2 miles, hopefully none of those wet leaves I walked past with bare legs were poison ivy!

  3. Nope, sorry to say that half was sidewalks, the other half was on border of a golf course....

  4. OH my goodness. That picture of the totalled 5th wheel and the nearly totalled house is just heart breaking and to think you were so close and you didn't even know it was happening. I can't believe they backed into your Miata my very very favorite car. If it weren't for needing something to carry the bikes and the kayaks, that would be a serious candidate for a toad for me. I had a Fiat Spyder for years and just loved it. I know you were sick. I have a weak signal here so your second picture, I assume of the Miata, didn't show up and I"m almost glad. I'd hate to see it hurt. Hope it wasn't bad but a wrecker and a motorhome are not match for that little baby. SO SORRY!

    1. The problem with having the Miata for a toad is that it must be on a trailer. Miata says, no, no to towing the Miata on the ground.

    1. They were supposed to call yesterday. Did not. I called today and requested the name of their insurance company. I am tired of waiting for them to have their company fix it.

  8. Well, shoot. Your poor baby. Glad it's repairable and not totaled. But the weather is just so incredibly bad out that way. So far we've been very lucky. Hope they get the car done quickly so you can get out of there. Not sure where to go to get away from the storms though. It's a mess everywhere. Exercise?? Does walking around Walmart count?

    1. I would have been mighty sad if it were totaled. The weather has been ok today.

  9. Big Ouch! Can't even stay in the trailer while the house is repaired :-(((. Little Ouch! Makes me miss my Miata too :-(. Sorry your baby got dinged and even sorrier you are delayed in the middle of all the storms. I'm sure there is a reason for you to stay, but I sure hope it's a quick reason!!

    1. The places I got my estimates from says that it will take 4 days. The company says that they want their repair facility friend to fix it. It is becoming more unacceptable each day as we await a telephone call.

  11. There are many reasons why we don't like the midwest this time of year. Two years ago when visiting family in OK, we dealt with tornados, flash floods, hail, and three earthquakes within three days. If we didn't have family here, not sure we would come back. Hope your Miata didn't take too much damage.

  12. Oh for heaven's sake. I am so sorry to hear about your little baby. How could this guy not see it? But, glad you are making a bad situation good. I would never turn down family time!

I exercise an hour to 1 1/2 hours each day at Planet Fitness. I love that place. It is the best gym I have ever been at. No muscle men there and lots of people my age.

  13. Until a few years ago I always thought tornadoes were limited to Ok, Ks, MO. Seems they have spread their destruction all over recently. Even had one in NJ when we were there a few years ago.

A 4 mile walk? You need to be proud of yourself!

    1. I have known of tornadoes to be in Indiana since I was a wee kiddo. They just appear when the weather conditions are right.

I love walking! Just want to do it regularly, but is hard with John. But I think I will eventually find a pattern to adapt to.

    1. Thanks. I feel that being involved in a tornado is much less likely than being in an auto accident.

  15. We try to visit the midwest only in the fall due to big storms.

    1. The severe storms are not that bad. Yes there are occasional tornadoes, but in all that time we have not been hurt in one. I'd hate to stay out of California because they have earthquakes. It is just all part of life.

    1. Yep, a bummer. We did meet with the owner of the shop where it will be repaired. We also viewed his service area and saw examples of his work. We are satisfied and ready to get the work done.

    1. Thank you. Some day, we are going to run out of continuances! What is so crazy is that every time we have a continuance, we reconsider our destination. I believe it is just too much time to think about our travel.
