Wednesday, we were up and at it early. We wanted to do a longer drive to Amarillo, Texas. Why? We have no idea other than we both are tired of driving past places that we intended to visit this summer. Our trip became a "let's get it over with" mission.
The views were becoming flat and monotonous, yet intriguing.
Albuquerque, from the interstate, provided a some diversity.
Interchanges were colorful
Colorful rock and mountains greeted us.
Suddenly, we came upon lava fields.
There we layers and layers of lava. And a reflection in the window. Hey Al, how do I get rid of the reflection?
Some lava was in rock-like chunks.
Portions of the interstate were built right next to where the lava ended.
Tenacious desert flora and fauna grows through the lava.
Ahh, we have been looking for this sign for quite a few miles.
Time to add diesel fuel and wash windows
Olivia makes sure that John is doing a good job.
And my early Mother's Day gift planter is surviving!
John's telemetry keeps warning us poor cell service!
What do they expect from AT&T?
Miles traveled today: 436...and we are pooped!
Thanks for riding along with us and supporting us with your thoughts and prayers.
I wonder what we will see today. Who knows, maybe just the inside of our motorhome as we may or may not rest for the day....yet to be determined after John's coffee and my tea.
Our Amazon shoppers never cease to surprise us with your support! Thank you very much.
God bless you all in your activities today!
Wow that is a long trip. Albuquerque would have been worth a stop if you haven't been there if only for the Native American museum there. Glad you had a safe trip. 400+ miles, I'm tired just typing it. I whine at 200.
ReplyDeleteSherry, you would be whining every day then....We are now in Illinois with a minor trailer emergency. Mechanic is here now. Hopefully we will be on our way soon.
DeleteSomehow it was JUST as I hit the publish button that I remembered so clearly why you were galloping. So glad John feels well enough to gallop is what I should have said. Albuquerque can wait. Safe travels! Don't wear yourselves out if you can help it.
ReplyDeleteI am doing most of the driving and still John is getting tired. The first day I drove, I was miserable, but my body has become accustomed to it now.
DeleteThat was a good long travel day, but sometimes you just have to do it. They are tiring no matter what anyone says.
ReplyDeleteTravel safe.
It looks like we are going to make it home in seven days. Would have been six, but we finally rested one day.
DeleteTraveling right along with you and John. :)
ReplyDeleteIt is nice and a blessing to have you along.
DeleteWe love the Amarilo/Lubbock area. There is so much to see there. Great museums like the Windmill Museum. Awesome. Don't forget to put PaloDuo on your list. It is the Grand Canyon if Texas. It is spectaular. The elks in Lubbock is wonderful. We have stayed there twice. Safe travels.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that John is doing well!
Now time for sight seeing here....we just keep moving and saying, that we must return to visit the places we are passing by.
DeleteA long day indeed. Lots of tedious scenery along the interstate:(
ReplyDeleteThe scenery was okay until eastern TX panhandle and OK, Missouri is a beautiful state. Illinois along with indiana, flat farmland.
DeleteWe can tell that you are on a mission.Stay safe and well.
ReplyDeleteA mission, it is. Had a mishap a vit ago and it is being fixed right now.
DeleteI am just so glad the storms have gone on past and you don't have to deal with any of them. Hope you are feeling better after resting.
ReplyDeleteHave not had enough rain to really clean the windshield. The day of rest was great.
DeleteSometimes it's just best to get it over with. Where we're at we have fairly good AT&T and rotten Verizon. Our antenna and booster helps quite a bit though -- thank goodness for that.
ReplyDeleteYep, let's get her done!
DeleteWe can never get photos that good while driving we have given up.
ReplyDeleteMy photos out the front window are okay if the glass is clean. Out the side window, I need a faster shutter.
DeleteGiven what you are facing in IN, I understand the your feelings. Please be safe out there.
ReplyDeleteWe are working on being safe. Thanks for your comment.
DeleteOur last two trips to the Napa Valley have been for hospital visits. It is beautiful country with so much to explore and I know exactly what you mean by "just get through it" as your travel goal. We too look forward to returning to an area we have been unable to enjoy thus far. You're making the trip together - enjoy that :-).
ReplyDeleteSometimes we enjoy. Others, we get fussy.
DeleteVery "punny"! Welcome to the PDD Driving Club Silver level! :c)
ReplyDeleteGood grief Paul....a silver is a silver! I sure don't want many silvers. Will take bronze any day.
DeleteWelcome to Texas!!!
ReplyDeleteWelcome to Texas!!!
